This is a real review done by hand, not an automated score out of 100. Here is what gets checked:
Title tags and meta descriptions. Whether they target a phrase people actually search, and whether Google is rewriting them.
Header tags. Whether each page tells Google what it is about, or buries it.
Schema markup. Which structured data your pages emit, and which rich results you are leaving on the table.
Images. The files slowing the page down, and the missing alt text costing you image search.
Backlinks. Who links to you, who links to the sites outranking you, and the gap between the two. That gap is usually the whole story, and closing it is link building.
Content. Which pages are too thin to rank and which topics you have never covered, which is where content marketing starts.
Sitemap and indexing. Whether your sitemap is current, submitted, and actually getting pages into Google.
Local visibility. How you show up in the map pack for searches near you, which comes down to your Google Business Profile.
Open Graph and Twitter cards. How your pages look when somebody shares them.
Keyword rankings. Where you sit today, and which terms are close enough to move quickly.
Competitors. What the sites above you are doing that you are not.
